Despite our best effort against it, Drew has learned to suck his thumb. When he is in his crib, he'll get real quiet so we think he is asleep. Then when we go to check on him, he is happy thumb sucking along . . .

That has its benefits. Justin sucks his fingers and I never had to worry about losing the pacifier. I wouldn't worry about it too much unless he is still doing it in kindergarten. Then you might need to break him of it. :)

There might come a day when you're grateful for that, let me tell you! And it's good if they have a way to pacify themselves, I know too many children who are incapable of calming themselves down. Plus, he looks cute :)

I agree with the others... it can be a good thing. Katelyn never took a pacifier, but sucks her thumb to go to bed. It's awesome because she never loses it and starts crying! (It's the only time she sucks it too, which I like.) So good job Drew! And I love how his little pinky sticks up. So cute.
